I will leave people with this to think about> If you think he is a good judge a fair judge. Overall you are very wrong!! I have spent almost 10 years dealing with him and its been a nightmare. I subpoenaed the managing partners in my foreclosure action TO TESTIFY . Gross and Polowy. Judge signs Subpoenas/ PlaintifF moves to quash them. Judge QUASHES SUBPOENAS, HE SIGNED IN FIRST PLACE!! AND THEN I QUOTE FROM JUDGE QUINLAN - GROSS/POLOWY DO NOT HAVE TO TESTIFY BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT AT MY CLOSING IN 2006 AND THERE NAMES DO NOT APPEAR ON THE NOTE!!! OUTRAGEOUS!! IF THERE NAMES WERE ON MY NOTE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SUING THEMSELVES. INCREDIBLE RULING!! AND AT MY TRIAL ON 6/20/23 HE STARTED ALMOST 1 AND HALF HOURS LATE AND THEN TOOK A 2 AND HALF HOUR LUNCH!! MY CASE HAS BEEN GOING ON ALMOST 15 YEARS IN SUFFOLK COUNTY SUPREME COURT. HOW CAN A PROSE DEFENDANT BE IN A FORECLOSURE ACTION WHERE THE ONLY QUESTION IS STANDING FOR 15 YEARS??? EITHER BANK HAS STANDING OR THEY DON'T!!!! AND JUDGE DID RULE ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO THERE STANDIG WAS NOT ESTABLISHED!! BUT LET THEM HANG AROUND AND BREAK THE LAWS HE SWORE TO UPHOLD!! LAWYERS FROM THE BANKS LIE LIKE RUGS AND JUDGE DID AND OR DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT!! ANY CASE THAT HAS A STEVEN J. BAUM IS CERTAINLY IN QUESTION WITH THERE DOCUMENTS!! ALSO THE GROSS/POLOWY FIRM WHO ARE X BAUM ATTORNEYS!!

My husband and I were dragged thru the mud for 17 years and are still fighting to keep our home. We were caught up in the "mortgage" fraud and Justice Quinlan was the judge assigned to our case. I was so impressed with his overall demeanor, his professionalism and his ability to uncover hidden discrepancies in our case, occurring thru the egregious behavior of the bank and mortgage servicer in our case of foreclosure. He is truly a shining star and I am disgusted that he is being forced to retire, leaving litigants in the hands of those who see fit to continue to aid and abet the banks and services who are stealing the homes of innocent Americans. We are now facing a second foreclosure after Justice Quinlan dismissed our case in our favor. Ocwen has changed names to PHH Mortgage and PHH is now going to attempt to foreclose on us again. I am awaiting the decision of a Bill: S5473D, already passed by both houses and sitting on Governor Hochul's desk to be vetoed or passed. PHH is forcing a modification on us without submission of any of our financials or income status. They just issued a modification without permission or being asked to do so. They have no information regarding our income or debt. After 17 long years and 50,000 in attorney fees, we are fighting all over again and now we will be faced with a judge who more then likely will not do the work and hand us over to the banks to have them take our home of 30 years. This is unconscionable and so despicable. I am so sorry to see Justice Quinlan forcibly removed from the bench and his gavel removed. He is one of the really good ones and I fear justice will not be served in the area of foreclosures, long after banks received their payouts, we sit trembling over the loss of our home. Very sad indeed.

He brings intelligence and a classical old wise man judicial intensity to every conference. You can feel how much he is trying to do good and that he cares about his work.

His forced retirement takes away the only fair foreclosure judge for borrowers in Suffolk. Left are the likes of Whelan and Heckman. Why can't one of them be forced to retire instead?

I am shocked that there are no comments posted about Judge Quinlan considering that he is held in very high regard by members of the Suffolk bar. Not only is he a true critical thinker and more knowledgeable than most of his colleagues in Suffolk Supreme, he has an exceptional demeanor from the bench, treating litigants with respect and listening evenly and fairly to both sides (all the while maintaining a sense of humor). If there is a question in his mind about an issue, he would rather both sides brief it post argument than shoot from the hip. It is a shame that this rare gem is being forced to retire while his cantankerous, biased and lazy colleagues remain at their post on tax payer dollars. This will be a great loss to those of us who enjoyed practicing before a true beacon of justice.
