I recently tried a case before the judge. Having been both a prosecutor and civil defense attorney I have come across all kinds of judges. I cannot say that I have ever had a more pleasant experience. Judge Santorelli is professional, intelligent, impartial, courteous and fantastic with the jury. They should all be like him.

The potential benefit of this forum is to hopefully educate people about a particular judge. Unfortunately, like many other anonymous outlets, the complaints often outweigh the good. Judge Santorelli is a gentleman, a thoughtful and deliberate Judge, and a pleasure to appear before. Yes, know your case; be competent, be prepared and be honest and truthful to the Court. He is tolerant when necessary, but one should not mistake tolerance for complacency. He is an excellent judge, and the County, the State and the Citizens of New York are the better for it.

A travesty to the bar. Arbitrary rules designed to give him power over your case. A very small person, indeed.

He has all of the attributes you don’t want in a judge. He is nasty, egotistical and not very bright. Thankfully he has a good law secretary.

Works hard to resolve cases, lets lawyer try her or his case. Does have a quick temper but forgets easily - does not hold a grudge. Knows law well enough to know when to reserve decision until he researches issue. Overall a good judge.

I had a trial with the Judge last year. He was fair to both sides. I was impressed that he took the time to make decisions - not shooting from the hip - on complicated issues. I would happily be assigned to him again on future trials.

He draws opinions about attorneys with no basis to do so. He harbours grudges and is a little Napoleon. He has to be the smartest in the room all the time, and god forbid that you know more than he does!! He is not a good judge to be in front of with your client.

He is a biased mean little Napoleon who draws conclusions about attorneys and then allows it to impact his ability to fair.

Worst judge in Riverhead!!!
