Not very bright. Not very hard-working. In other words, a typical supreme court judge.

After working hard for an infant client an d getting a more than reasonable result, and a battle to get a waiver of an ERISA lien, my fee was summarily cut without any rhyme or reason. Perhaps she thought I do this as a hobby.

It is about time this witch retires. Evil, mean-spirited, hateful. An absolute disgrace. The perfect argument for taking judge-making out of the clubhouses and on to the merit system.

Overall very well calibrated thinking in handling most civil matters. Renowned for her ability to inspire people through her words and instill a clear thought- provoking message that instills values. Understands the true meaning of equity and equitable relief.

Allowed opposing counsel in a med mal trial to chart their own course. Allowed us to schedule all witnesses, even those taken out of turn per stip. Granted one defense attorney a down day, with consent of all counsel, so he could be present for a family members Most importantly, willing to read case law on evidentiary issues and quickly ruled in accordance with the law.

Had the misfortune of trying a case in front of her (which I won).

Aggressively ignorant and lazy.

An assignment to Judge Flug is nothing short of a nightmare. She is arrogant, inflexible and at times, just plain stupid. When you object to her rulings, she refuses to let you make a record. When you come to her courtroom, there is no conference and no attempt to discuss settlement. Just be prepared to try your case. I think she flips a coin when making rulings on objections because most decisions have no legal basis whatsoever.

This jurist is no jurist. She did not learn much as Hon. Calabretta's law secretary, which is a shame in and of itself, as he was an honorable jurist. She tells court reporters to go "off the record," refuses to allow parties to order daily or expedited transcripts of her verbally abusive rants. I have witnessed her tell attorneys from other counties to "go back to where you came from." She is in love with her power as a judge. She has permitted Court Personnel to give a "diagnosis" of a litigant. Allegedly, while a law secretaty she had an affinity for sitting on a married, court officer's lap.

Comments:
She was very green when she first came up and seemed afraid that it would show so she was cool to attorneys and reluctant to listen to their arguments but she has gained confidence with time on the bench and now is far more capable today. I am a defense attorney who finds her fair but some of my colleagues think I am crazy and that she is a plaintiff at heart. She still lack substantive knowledge but is at least willing to learn.

This jurist is a prime example of what is wrong with our judicial selection process. She refuses to negotiate a case, refuses to conference a case and clearly lacks even a rudimentary knowledge of the rules of evidence. She is clearly in love with the fact that she is a judge. I won my case and I still feel this way.

This particular judge was unable to recognize the difference between a simple assault case and a medical malpractice case.
As a consequence, she erroneously dismissed my client's case. My client was the victim of a violent assault by NYC EMTs. When the defendants made a motion for summary judgment based solely on the causation of plaintiff's injuries, Judge Flug took it upon herself to apply a medical malpractice standard to the case (despite the fact that med/mal was never pled) and dismissed the claims despite having found a triable issue of fact. This was after having waited six months for a decision on the motion.

This Judge is just awful. She will tell the court reporters to go off the record and then threaten a side with jail. She also allows her law secretary to conduct hearings. That is, before she was thrown out of the matrimonial part.
