This guy is an absolute moron. Ignorant of the law, ignorant of due process, just plain stupid. His disrespect for litigants and attorneys however transcend his stupidity; just plain mean and condescending to those in his courtroom. Whoever gave him a robe to wear should rip it off his back.

The judge favors females, you can have all the evidence in the world and this judge will not go by the evidence but by false speeches .
He looks to confuse both opponents in order to give in accurate information .

If you have this judge be sure to be ready to appeal .

Disrespectful & rude, aloof & heartless.
Unknowledgable in animal rights law such as "animal cruelty, pain and suffering.".
Obviously Hon. Gerstein is not aware that animals have rights today and people who neglect or cause pain and suffering on animals do receive punishment by law, even jail time
Hon. Gerstein needs to take course on animal cruelty law in New York State to learn that we have made remarkable strides in that area.
Hon Gerstein needs to learn compassion for animals and humans as well.

Really a very nice guy, you want to be in front of him at sentencing. That being said, he talks too much and wastes a lot of time on nonsense. He is also very naive and does not really understand how the streets work, e.g. Where is the gun? The complaint says a Colt 45 - why is there no gun charge? Uh - judge that's a beer... He will never find an incredible police officer incredible. Again, not out of mal intent - just very naive.

Judge Gerstein becomes extremely agitated very quickly in a courtroom setting and appears frequently flustered. He is pleasant off the record, but struggles for respect to the point of insulting those in front of him unnecessarily, thereby losing the interest and respect of those before him.
