Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY3333
Rating:7.9
Comments:
A very courteous, fair minded judge who was a pleasure to try a case in front of. Tries hard to settle the case. Was a practicing attorney and know what its like to deal with all the difficulties in trying a case (unlike many jurists who never practiced and do not have a clue what is involved as a trial attorney). Excellent Judge.

This jurist is a credit to the bench. Justice Agate is a man of ethics, his fairness applauded throughout Queens. He utilizes discernment in all his decisions, something other members of the bench in this County have failed to cultivate.

I lost my trial and I still gave this judge high marks. That should tell you something.

Comments:
One of the best judges in the system. A credit to the bench and a class act. Judge Agate is a professional who is even-handed and fair minded. I appeared in front of him often when he was in Civil Court, and would expect no difference now that he is in Supreme. I was sorry to see him go, but happy for him. More judges should conduct themselves like Judge Agate.

He is one of the fairest, even handed justices in the system. I have been involved in the state court system with him since 1971. I would give him the highest rating I possibly could.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY837
Rating:1.4
Comments:
Justice Agate is one of those judges that makes you lose faith in the judicial system. He clearly does no work and reads no papers. He just wrote a decision stating no demand for change of venue was made when said demand was the only page of Exhibit A. Also, he does not allow oral argument so you can't bring the issues to his attention. Definitely one of the worst.
