Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY8228
Lousy Surrogate Judge whose arrogance, poor work ethic and lack of intelligence seems to be reflected in her law assistants and clerks. There used to be 1 surrogate in Kings County who handled things pretty efficiently, now 2 surrogates - especially this one - can't get the job done.

Comment #: NY8194
I've appeared before her a dozen times. She's needlessly nasty to everyone - attorneys, clients, staff, you name it. No amount of pleasantries or niceties will elicit a kind response.

In my latest case, she tore into petitioner's attorney for "speaking out of turn." She then told him, "you'll speak when spoken to." At the time, all lawyers were responding to the Judge. There was no formality to th moment. Again, she was just needlessly nasty.

She's competent, but vile.

Appearing before her is a nigthmare.

Nasty Dumb and controlling. She yells at her staff, yells at the chief clerk (who probably deserves it - another dope). If she simply lost the anger she might be a really good judge but she is too caught up in control to get the work done.

Comment #: NY5969
I am a Pro Se litigant and find Judge Johnson to be professional , fair. And patient. I have never been ina court room nonetheless in Surrogates court. Judge Johnson has given me every opportunity to plead my case and right an injustice.

There is nothing good to say about this Judge. Nothing at all. A huge disaster. She is too angry and bitter.

Comment #: NY2622
Her actions as Surrogate show that she does not like attorneys. However, by punishing attorneys, she also punishes our clients. Her rulings are contradictory, she requires pointless motion practice that no other surrogate requires (in order to show how busy she is, but with easily-decided motions). I believe she requires stupid, pointless motions to be made, for the sole purpose that they can be decided quickly. This balances out the other motions that she takes forever to decide.

She started off as Surrogate with some bumps. However, she is clearly the better Surrogate in Brooklyn. Overall, it seems she will be good - especially compared to her counterpart (Loopey Lopez Torres) who is nutty.

Pro-defendant; however, she will switch sides if a defendant plays dirty.
