Lazy. One-sided. Does not follow the law.

He ignored the law as set forth by the United States Supreme Court. We had to appeal to 2nd Dept. Reversed and rendered in our favor. Cost my client a lot of time and money in what should have been a simple matter.

Conducts proceedings in formal and official manner, with appearance of impartiality. Results, though, go to the favored litigant, regardless of facts and law. A real problem if you are on the wrong side.

Comments:
Had case w him. If he were not being compensated by the other side, he should have been. Blatantly one sided, rulings contrary to facts and law. Just an absolute attorney's nightmare. Should be removed from the bench, or never be permitted to preside over an important case.

An excellent judge and should be a model for all other judges. I wish I could litigate every case I have before him.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY9416
Rating:8.3
Comments:
I think he is a thoughtful, intelligent judge. He works hard and tries to do the right thing. My experience is he pushes the attorneys to move the case but isn't unfair to them when reasonable requests are raised to adjust dates, etc.

Comments:
His partiality was seriously at issue to the point where he blatantly ignored the law and/or the facts when it suited him in what was clearly an effort to assist the other side. His efforts to project the appearance of impartiality were just a total con. His decisions couldn't have been worse if written by my opponent, which I question if they were. Despite his credentials, wouldn't want him to preside over my traffic ticket.

Terrible, bias, unfair, and ignore the law for his own personal reasons, does not respect people, discriminate against people from different race and color very bad to have a judge for 14 years with this kind of beleives

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY6831
Rating:6.5
Comments:
For a judge with an impeccable reputation, his conduct was, at best, questionable.

For someone so highly regarded as a legal scholar, numerous decisions ignored the law and he inexplicably pandered to a defaulting defendant to the extent that questions were raised as to his impartiality in the matter. His conduct clearly gave an impression of impropriety.

He always appears very knowledgeable about his case and any motions. His law secretary is very good (Ms. Pomerantz). Runs a very efficient courtroom. Refuses to sanction bad behavior though.

This is a very hardworking judge. Willing to listen. Tries to get it right. He readily reconsiders an erroneous ruling if you support your position with research. Even when tested, he treats everyone in his courtroom with the respect that they deserve.

A fine judge, being knowledgeable, courteous and patient. He is much smarter than the average judge.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY1952
Rating:6.8
Comments:
A very well mannered and even tempered judge. Always punctual. In my case he did not get involved in pre-trial matters, deferring to his law secretary. Was unduly indulgent of defendants' machinations and of the defendant's flagrant violations of the obligation to disclose at the same time that he urged that the case be moved to trial. Hard to reconcile his conduct with his reputation for even handedness and refusal to tolerate the game playing of a bygone era.
