I had a divorce, my lawyer who I never saw settled without my consent and was fired he sent a letter telling this judge I had settled. She would not talk to me. No lawyer would help me my husband was hiding all his assets and everyone had tied my hands. He divorced me after I lost a leg in a drunk driver accident. I had no choice , I was told but to sign the papers. He threaten to throw me out of my apt. She didn’t question any of the documents because she didn’t read them.

Comments:
My case was a medical malpractice suit against the doctors who (in 2006) had overdosed me on Prednisone which induced severe osteoporosis, resulting in numerous medical conditions related to osteoporosis and the medication for it, including: collapsed spine, 7 inches loss in height, severe kyphosis, COPD, severe esophageal disease, loss of all teeth, & multiple hospitalizations for double pneumonia.
On 2 different occasions, Judge Lobis' staff gave me wrong information which resulted in great emotional distress, and a waste of my time & money. The money involved was, by ordinary standards, minor. However, as a disabled senior citizen surviving on a very limited fixed income, it was a significant amount to me. Furthermore, Judge Lobis refused to acknowledge my request to change the date (of an appointment in her chambers) because it conflicted with my observance of the Jewish High Holidays.
Approximately 3+ years after my case was filed, I had discovered that my attorney had been negotiating a settlement without my knowledge or any consultation. I fired him immediately but, after a year of trying to replace him, every attorney I approached refused to take the case because "it had been so mishandled". Judge Lobis, who was aware of all these circumstance, never-the-less threw my case out. And she did so, with prejudice, although she knew my former attorney had refused to return the files to me (in the timely manner required by our contractual agreement) & I was, therefor, still learning the details of things he had said & done about which I had had no contemporaneous knowledge. I remain, in 2017, under the care of a Rheumatologist, Pulmonologist, Physiatrist & Dentist.

Comments:
Judge Lobis was recently booted out of the Matrimonial Part. Did not do too much damage, but upset too many litigants who were not given a fair chance (male or female, straight or gay - no difference). An unpredictable judge, but tends to rule in favor of attorneys on her "favorites" list.
