Rating:10.0
Comments:
By far his honor carried out his due diligence as a public servant official where his Honorable Judge has been assigned to my case on a matter petitioned for order . The rapid response including his assistant showed positive efforts and communicated to me as a protective member of a class with disability and special needs. I’m content.

Comments:
Judge Thompson should not be on the Bench. He is biased, lazy, and arrogant. If you do not settle the case at his figure and you go ahead to trial, he does everything he can to screw you. Sometimes his bias backfires with the jury. He is a good example of why we should not elect Judges in New York!

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
Justice Thompson is rude, nasty, unprofessional and entirely unfit for the bench. He quickly jumps to conclusions, always assumes the worst of counsel, and will freely take unprovoked and inappropriate personal shots at attorneys. A true bully. I've been in front of well over a hundred judges over the past 15 years -- he ranks among the worst. Such a stain on the judiciary.

Comments:
I had a week long civil trial in front of J. Thompson. The trial literally was from 10 am to 5 pm every day. My opposing counsel was the epitomy of a criminal lawyer, was terrible at evidence and antagonized the judge at every turn. Judge Thompson consistently ruled fairly and kept his composure. He knew the law and applied it correctly. He is very personable, affiable and a credit the bench.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY2671
Rating:2.3
Comments:
In an section 1983 civil rights suit, ruled that a 24 year old's statement to a treating psychiatrist that she was slapped when she was 7, made after all discovery had closed (an seen for the first time when records were subpoeaned into court), was an existing condition which should have been disclosed earlier and failure to do so led to dismissal of emotional distress claims when damages for emotional distress was the principal claim in the lawsuit.

Comments:
excellent trial judge, understands the law and is even-handed. He makes good evidentiary rulings, and after he allows both sides to convince him

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY936
Rating:2.2
Comments:
Dismissed the case of a terribly injured immigrant because "there must be privity in a product liability case." Reversed on appeal and multimillion dollar verdict affirmed on appeal. A dope, and snotty to boot.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: NY689
Rating:1.3
Comments:
Lawlessness prevails in his courtroom. He is chronically late and utterly disrespectful of trial participants' and the jury's time. Even made a pitch from the bench for counsel to support his re-election!
