Judge David Barnett is a man of great integrity and fortitude for what he belives in. He is fair-minded and fair-handed in all matters. He is a man of great wisdom and uses this wisdom for the betterment of mankind. He is not judgmental of people that society rejects. He judges honestly and sincerely according to the merits of the cases he hears. He demands respect, because he also gives respect to all who comes before him. He follows the law down to the letter and does not waver in his belief that those who appear before him should address the court in a proper manner, proper language, and proper dress. The day he retires will indeed be a sad day for Tillman County! He has had a very tough job through the years of service to the State of Oklahoma, and he has prevailed with great intensity and honor as a man and a judge. There should be more judges and human beings like him!

Comments:
Judge Barnett has consistently run his dockets in a fair and timely manner. He demands respect on behalf of the position of the Court. Requests that pro se litigants address him as "Sir" or "Your Honor." He requires appropriate attire that meets the minimum standards of decency. (No crop tops, shorts, or mini-skirts.) Other judges may say that they require this but he is the only one I have seen order someone to go change and come back. Very even-handed. Willing to listen to both sides. But he is not afraid to ask tough questions from the bench if it will clarify the situation. A true gentleman off the bench and a true professional on it. I, for one, am not looking forward to the day that he retires.
