Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: OK2002
Rating:4.1
Comments:
Very slow often taking months to rule on motions that should be quite simple. Very slow docket. Request a court reporter because by the time he rules it is not possible for him to remember the arguments at the hearing. Seems to have interns and law clerks provide research and draft decisions.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: OK1733
Rating:4.0
Comments:
Very, very slow to rule. Usually requires more than 1 round of briefing on issues, especially if he takes a matter "under advisement." Relies too much on law clerks, who are often law students or unlicensed law school graduates, to write opinions. Have had motions pending for more than 1 year before getting a decision, as well as two and three rounds of briefing on the same issue without a decision.

He is respectful to all parties, but appears to be in over his head as a member of the judiciary.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: OK1423
Rating:6.9
Comments:
Affable demeanor and willing to listen to arguments. Will work with the parties to accommodate scheduling. Bad habit of repeatedly rescheduling. Enjoys promoting law student attendance at hearings at local law school or to have them in the courtroom. Overall a good judge.

Civil Litigation - Private

One of the gems of the Tulsa judiciary.

Civil Litigation - Private

I think he is decent, tries hard and is even handed. He still seems a bit challengeed by some complex issues. He is extremely civil to lawyers and their clients.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
Likeable enough but seems in over his head as a District Court Judge.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: OK58
Rating:8.3
Comments:
Bright and thorough. Judge Cantrell works hard and is even-handed. He is respectful to lawyers and their clients. He is willing to learn new things and will not grant a summary judgment if there are facts in dispute.
