Thank the GOOD LORD that this man has retired from the bench. I don't like to judge but his reviews are awful. I'm sure he has had enough of seeing criminals day in and day out, although what does a criminal really look like...? Take care Your Honor!

As a juror in Judge Ellliot’s court, I found him instructional, fair and rules-oriented. He was fair to both the prosecution and the defense, and spent a fair amount of time ensuring that jurors understood their role and expectations. In addition, his instructional style was entertaining and informative and time passed quickly as we listened to him. I was most impressed with his judicial wisdom and equity

I am just a random guy that was called to jury duty in Judge Elliott's court room. During voir dire, we were given no opportunity nor option to answer potentially embarrassing questions on paper or in private.

The judge disclosed to all of the people present that one of the potential jurors had been arrested (but never charged) for solicitation. Clearly the attorneys and the defendant should know that fact, however, did the fifty other people in the courtroom need to know that? Why can't that conversation happen in private, at the bench?

Is biased and predisposed without hearing evidence or arguments. Is not interested in agreements of the parties. Lectures spectators as if they are second graders. Presumes criminal defendants are a risk to the public at a bond hearing without considering defendants post arrest conduct, expressions of remorse to victims, or lack of prior criminal conduct. He will probably be an unpredictable loose cannon as a criminal case proceeds towards trial phase. He is subject to pressure from news media and from victims families.

It's hard to explain to people that judge Elliott is a fair judge. He runs a tight ship. There is no room for error but his job requires focus and discipline. I would be more afraid if he were like Judge McCray who offers donuts to anyone in his courtroom to break the ice. COURT IS COURT Run your room like you mean business and people with respect you and the law. He sees people accused of very serious crimes and takes into consideration all the facts. We need ALL our judges to be like Raymond Elliott.

I sat in his courtroom yesterday. He was talking to all of us jurors about our upcoming duty. I liked how passionate he is about being fair and honest. I also liked how he put the DA in place when he was talking to us and going over the same thing again and again.

Heartbreaking - Judge Elliott sentenced a fired OKC police officer, Jeremiah Thompson, to only 5 yrs probation on a felony child abuse charge of a 7 month old foster child in his care. The child suffered brain bleeding and retinal hemorrhaging which experts said were not consistent with Thompson's story that the injuries were the result of a 3 to 4 foot fall onto carpet. When judge Elliott gave Thompson the opportunity to tell the truth before sentencing, Thompson kept silent. Even in the face of Elliott's statement that he did not believe Thompson was telling the truth about how the child was injured, he allowed a suspended sentence. I am outraged and sickened. While the sentence was in line with what Asst DA Gayland Gieger requested, the judge had the power to see justice done should have imposed a harsher, more appropiate punishment. The 7 month old baby will likely suffer permanent long term damage. How can either Elliot or Gieger justify this?!!! How can they live with themselves?

Adding to comment OK1517, Judge Elliott defended the inadmissibility in court of polygraphs because they are unreliable but then turned around and gave a lengthy explanation as to how the defendant was able to pass two polygraphs. In Judge Elliott's view, I'm just a lay person, so I can't possibly understand the unreliability of a polygraph, but I do recognize excuses when I see them, and Judge Elliott's explanation was nothing more than an excuse to dismiss a man's efforts to prove his innocence. The sentence handed down to this defendant was extreme, considering he served his country for 15 years and had no priors.

It would interest me to know just how Judge Elliott arrives at his decisions. If his judgments are attained through the accumulation, analysis and review of facts, then I must be a total fool. How does this magistrate of the court hand down a twenty-eight year sentence to a man that passed two polygraph tests, and seemingly disregards many sincere character letters written on behalf of the innocence of said man? Where does a judge obtain the right to convince himself that the two polygraph tests were/are unreliable, and that the above mentioned man passed these tests because of some kind of deceptive mental preparation? It seems to me that Judge Elliott rendered a decision that would ultimately satisfy his own pretentious ego than to make an honest appraisal of the facts. I think that even God was caught off guard by Elliott's ludicrous and biased decision.....

The first time I appeared on Judge Elliott's docket, he was sentencing a female defendant on a blind plea for drug-related charges. The defendant's attorney had called the defendant's husband, a decorated military officer, to testify that it was his opinion that his deployment had contributed to the defendant's drug use. Judge Elliott interjected some question or comment during the husband’s testimony and then proceeded to shout at the husband for what he perceived as the husband's attempt to talk while he was speaking. Judge Elliott even said something to the effect that he was the king in his courtroom and that nobody, not even a military officer, was above him in that courtroom. It was a shocking and disgusting scene.

A man that sews the path of his own destruction.. Defends states incarceration rate.
Sentences a black man to death that didn't pull the trigger in a murder case....Follow me now, all you have to do is look at his history and you"ll see the pattern...when has he ever sentenced a white man to death that didn't pull the trigger...Hmm
Sentences an addict to a hundred plus years for stealing a purse ....I guess a person slowly killing their self everyday was 'nt punishment enough.
I can go on and on but, I'm sure you get the picture.. Can you guess what all these cases have in common? They're all people of color.
His hatred for blacks and Hispanics is unbelievable...He does not believe in the constitution of the united states ... Many people of color are extorted into taking whatever he or the prosecutor recommends ...for fear of being
convicted by preselected all white jury's .
Correct me, if I'm wrong...but, if a judge deny's a motion that supports truth isn't that obstruction of Justice...you damn right it is...It's also hypocrisy..
What kind of a people would vote in a racist to be the judge of others...
When our forefathers wrote the constitution they spoke of a time when government officials would abuse the power that was handed down to them by the voters and that is why rights we're put in place. To protect all people...people of color we're not excluded. If you or any of your love one's have been a victim of injustice please pick up the phone and tell them your side of the truth.

Judge Elliott is NOT a fair judge by any means.
Whoever gives this judge a good rating is either a family member of his or someone that laughs with him in the evil that they share.
Looks at evidence that supports the truth in your defense and throws it right back as if he didn't see it at all . Supports officers that lie under oath.
Helps prosecution build a solid case against you
By stripping you of your civil rights and supporting perjury. Allows prosecution to with hold evidence, delete evidence, destroy evidence,, and whatever else the prosecution needs to do to make you look guilty and supports it even though he knows the evidence doesn't support it. Makes senseless court dates for no reason at all and doesn't like it when you try to talk sense to him. Cases that should be thrown out by law are bounded over for trial. Wastes millions of taxpayers dollars by going to trial on matters to small to even consider at all.
Way too excessive in sentencing violent and non-violent criminals...and turning our prisons into health care facilities and old folk homes.

Judge Ray C. Elliot makes Satin look like a choir boy. He is the very worst of his kind. He uses his power as a judge to abuse and oppress the poor and uneducated.
Any and all motions filed with the court in your defense are simply denied. The percentage of innocent people forced (extortion) into taking a deal to go to prison is 85% while the other15% pay under the table to make things go away.
He is a racist and a very evil person that doesn't uphold or respect the law but seeks justice of his own. A total disgrace to the law profession and humanity. He is the absolute reason why prisons are overcrowded with non-violent criminals...

This judge is all about the power. He treats all defendants as nothing. Telling them right out the gate they are going to prison if they are chewing gum, not dressed to his liking, and not having a lawyer and giving them just just minutes to find one or that's it. It's like he flex his power by using jail time and getting off on it. Everyone does not have the financial capacity to get a lawyer on the spot and further more most of the people are from low economical backgrounds and are trying to do what they can. His response to a woman who had no child care and had to bring her child to court was "not my problem and if you don't get back before I call you then you are going to jail." Time and time again he ignored explanations. Not everyone in that room was a bad person some just pleaded to deals and had no idea what else to do. The state just sees money and a body for prison corporations, and he see to making sure the state gets it.

This judge abuse his power and does whatever he wants. Barely looks at evidence and rules as he like. He was a judge of one of my friends case and my friend was completely innocent but this judge just gave her three dates just to go to court and show up. For absolutely nothing. He didn't even listen to prosecutor and just gave 3 pre trial dates. he is a judge alright but the worst and unfair judge in the whole bench.

Whoever writes that judge Elliot is a fair judge is nothing more than a racist himself. How is it that you can say he's fair AND YOUR WHITE !!! Your not the one being discriminated against and stripped of your civil rights. He knowingly let's prosecution get away with withholding evidence, deleting evidence, fabricating evidence and what ever else they have to do as a team to throw a minority in prison for the rest of there life...I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't know first hand. Judge Elliot thinks he is the LAW....and if your anything other than white your already CONVICTED !!!!!!! HE IS FRUIT FROM THE POISONESS TREE...What is taking you people so long to remove him from the bench? He's violated all 4 cannon rules on a continuing basis and it would take a real man with some ethics to pull his files and hold him accountable for his actions...

After sitting in this judge's courtroom, I have never been so displeased. I sat and watched this judge badger a young man into taking a plea deal. The young man was there for a jury trial, but when he showed up, his attorney and the prosecutors wanted to offer him a plea deal. The young man pleaded to both parties that he was innocent and did not want to take the deal. The judge then made his statement to the man that if he didn't make up his mind he would make it up for him, and they would go to trial and if found guilty, he would give him the maximum sentence. The maximum sentence was 25 years in prison. The man had 45 minutes to make a unclear decision. Frightened, he took the plea bargain. This bothered me, so I looked into this case, and I believe this young man was correct in saying that he was innocent.

The only reason I voted Elliott a "2" is due to the fact that he runs a tight ship, in terms of keeping things moving and attending to the details.

On the other hand, his bias in favor of the prosecutor and against defendants, their counsel and family/supporters is unbelievable!

I sat through 3 trials that he conducted. In each of them, he denied evidence that might have proved exculpatory for the defendants, quashed testimony favorable to defendants, and did everything short of kissing the prosecutor's hindparts. I saw two (count 'em, TWO!) instances in which he approved a defendant's objections or otherwise ruled in favor of a defendant, but he sat by silently while the prosecutors waltzed around the law.

Judicial bias is unforgivable. It undermines the basis of American jurisprudence, makes a mockery of the law, harms the entire fabric of society -- and sends innocent people to jail and punishes the guilty far in excess of a reasonable or fair sentence.

Oklahoma County would be far better served if the "Honorable" Ray C. Elliott retired or was removed from the bench.

Judge Elliott performs his duties in an excellent fashion. Having been a district attorney, his ability to render correct decisions is amazing. He runs a no-nonsense courtroom, but is compassionate with defendants. He is a great asset to the legal profession and to the judicial community in Oklahoma. We are fortunate to have him as a district judge.
