I have a VERY difficult time believing the other comment here is from "Court Staff." Our staff would not speak like that about him. Judge Mejia is not biased against men, nor is he arrogant, and he certainly does not uniformly ignore the law. Can he be cranky? Sure. He readily has acknowledged that. But he also cares very much about getting things right. He is not lazy either. In fact, he has zero tolerance for laziness when he encounters it. Judge Mejia does a good job and is one of the most knowledgeable judges we have. Beneath his crankiness is a golden heart. The comment from "Court Staff" seems more like a litigant who lost in front of him. I lose legal fights in front of Judge Mejia all the time - that doesn't make him a bad judge. In fact, that often makes him a good judge.

If you are a man facing divorce, never accept this judge as the trail judge for your divorce. He is highly arrogant, completely indifferent to fairness for men, vindictive, always assumes that the men in civil divorce cases are automatically the bad guy (even when being a devoted father has been the case all along), and practically endorses women in what is in effect cross-state kidnapping of children against both the will of the father and state laws. He is lazy, ignores the applicable laws of other states, will not protect the parental rights of fathers and is plainly vicious to the men facing divorce. He will also allow lump-sum alimony payments to be structured, whereupon the woman can then evade federal tax obligations, which also becomes an unfair arrangement for the man in the case. If you are a man facing divorce, run from this judge, because he will destroy your life financially, and destroy your rights as a loving father, and fully allow parental alienation to go on.
