From June 3, 2021 Inquirer article by Chris Palmer.

“In 2016, when her mother fell ill and left a hearing, Younge Prohibited her from re-entering the quart room, then terminated her parental rights.

The next year, when DHS filed a petition concerning custody of a newborn because the child and mother had tested positive for opiates, the board said young filed an order calling for protective custody of the baby and for all our siblings —even though none of the older children were part of the DHS petition. Young ordered the children’s mother and her fiancé handcuffed until all five children could be located at school and with a babysitter, the disciplinary board said…(The mother told The Inquirer…that the positive opiate test was because she took Percocet in the last days of her pregnancy to deal with the pain.”)

In 2018, after young for that three children should be removed from their mothers home for truancy issues, she criticize the mother for not bringing the children to court, then had a woman handcuffed and taken to a holding cell until someone brought them in.

She improperly jailed a father twice for a total of 21 days over what she believed to be a violation of court order when he called his daughter, the board found.

And in December 2017, young ordered a grandmother jailed overnight without legal basis. After ruling the two that two of the women and children should be removed from her care over allegations of physical abuse, young orders at the women’s adult daughter, who is not part of the keys, turned her infant over to DHS because young incorrectly believe the baby lived with the grandmother.”

Younge clearly used her judicial powers to abuse, maliciously prosecute and falsely inprison innocent people. There should be no immunity against this type of criminal behavior. She should be prosecuted and jailed, not set up to return to the bench in six months.

Comments:
After two years on the bench in family court, Lyris Younge was removed and placed in civil court; while being under investigation by the JCB. She has done the unspeakable to families, from forcing a mom to cop a plea in order to get her children back, to wrongfully jailing many grandparents and parents. Continuously overturned by the superior court for abuse of discretion, I don’t know how she is even allowed to sit on any bench.

I've never been before this judge but others who have have staged protests. She is, apparently, a nightmare who tears families apart. Read the newspaper articles. Her rulings are usually appealed and she has been overturned more often than not. I think she has been taken off the bench, for now.
