Comments:
Thank goodness the good voters of Dallas County have arranged for an end to Judge Stanton's judicial career. This may give him the chance to recover from the worst case of judge-itis I have seen in 25 years. He did part of the job well, but those were only the mechanical things. Anything requiring knowledge, discretion, judgment, or analysis is quite another thing - and in these, the judge was woefully lacking. When parties depend on a trial to resolve legal disputes, the conduct of a trial is extremely important to them. Unfortunately, this judge was unable to deliver an acceptable product, and that is the true measure of a judge. Being a good judge is not just about statistics, cases moved, settled or concluded. It is about justice and justice requires more than just the mechanical appearance of being a judge. My guess is that he will run again in the future, and I doubt he will ever be any better, for one that impressed with himself rarely listens to anyone.
