Judge Michael H. Katz has demonstrated a complete disregard for justice, fairness, and the safety of those who come before him. His rulings often show a troubling bias, favoring individuals who should be thoroughly investigated rather than trusted with critical decisions that impact lives. He appears indifferent to compelling evidence, dismissing serious concerns without proper consideration.

Beyond his failure to uphold justice, Judge Katz has displayed a deeply ingrained misogynistic attitude. He is extremely critical of women, often undermining their credibility by questioning their mental stability rather than considering the facts before him. His dismissive and condescending behavior toward women in his courtroom is not just unfair—it is dangerous. No judge should hold such clear prejudice, especially when making life-altering decisions that impact families and children.

His courtroom lacks integrity, fairness, and accountability. Families and vulnerable individuals deserve better—someone who upholds the law with wisdom, impartiality, and genuine concern for those affected by their decisions. Judge Katz has repeatedly failed in this regard. His continued presence on the bench is a disservice to justice and a threat to those seeking protection under the law.

My partner, a woman, is in a nasty and unending custody dispute with her narcicist ex-husband. When I say narcicist, I mean that I'd bet money that that would be his diagnosis if he ever went to therapty to deal with his issues. Katz lets him get away with everything, including multiple lies to the court and violations of the parenting agreement. He's wealthy, so he can afford to bury his ex-wife in legal fees. Katz is an authoritarian when it comes to women, but will not enforce his own court orders against men -- or least that has been the case with this particular situation. At one point, my partner's lawyers said "Your Honor, Mr. XXXXX has violated your own order." Katz's response essentially was "I gave the order, what else do you want me to do?"
By the way, if Katz offers to refer your case to a parenting coordinator, think long and hard about that. The one we have is corrupt and unethical as hell -- he charges for every single thing, including time spent simply reading an email, even an email that is just asking for information. And he won't even respond to emails, instead insisting that he answer in a phone call (which he then drags out so that he can bill the two parents for nearly $600/hour). The PC takes every lie the ex-husband says at face value and never asks for evidence. He then brings that lie back to my partner so she can spend money talking to the PC while producing documents to prove that it was a lie. All the while he's pressuring her to schedule more "sessions," and manufacturing situations in which he can bill. He's making the situation worse.
To say that Katz is slime would be an insult to slime. I've never known slime to be so insistently biased against women. Nobody ever expects slime to exercise common sense when regarding the facts of the case. Slime never enabled a rich sociopathic compulsive liar in his petty and vindictive quest to punish the woman who rightfully left him. BEWARE JUDGE MICHAEL KATZ!

Had to repost as I forgot to ad a # rating

It’s so shocking that I never knew about this site and just who Judge Michael L Katz truly is!

This judge who presided over my custody matter for 5 years just awarded sole custody to his mother who had an affair with a ny cop, manufactured and falsified a police report on DV, denied my right to offer a recorded confession during trial and after in two separate motions.

He completely ignored all of my concerns as a father about Malicious Parenting and just used all the language of my sons mothers attorney proving he is biased did not read my closing, did not read any of my motions, etc.

My son’s mother has been trying to alienate me from my son. My only son. She did it with her daughter, my stepdaughter, and I’m scared for what could happen to my son in this situation

His mom even still denying my sons basic medics health rights after I secured them and said the got him all his services!?

I need help! Any one have any advice on appealing or reopening a custody case in NY based on not being informed I could be appointed counsel when I could not afford one? Or bias by not being able to afford counsel?

This man said on in his chair sometimes his memory is bad!

Injects his personal options and out loud said he relates to my ex husband because she’s a dad and hired an attorney for my ex husband for our trial without my ex having to do paperwork or enter a motion!!! He’s a despicable judge who doesn’t look at the evidence and rather plays on his personal hang ups and seems like he hates women because I have witnessed him being very derogatory toward women in the courtroom and being very lenient toward men. My exhusband has abused my daughter for over 8 years. ACS case against him done by my daughter therapist of over 2 years and he completely disregarded her professional opinion of the situation and has ordered my 16 year old daughter to endure more abuse at the hands of her dad and all the judge remarks when I say he’s abusive toward her is she’s 16! As if by the time you’re 16 you don’t know when you’re being abused and you deserve to be abused because you’re 16?!?! If you sit in his courtroom in the back of the court, and listen to how differently he behaves toward women vs the men, you will see what a hypocrit he is and he has no business representing the courts legal system if he’s not going to abide by the rules of the law or court! It’s sicken! My daughters attorney even said she’s against my daughter being in his care, yet still that just Michael L. Katz from Supreme Court is forcing her!! Knowing she has been in therapy because she’s had thought of suicide in the care of her dad! He is an unethical judge that needs to be humbled so he can remember why he took his oath in the first place! He practices in that court room out of his own accord. There is no laws being upheld! He’s a [Redacted by Ed.] with a degree in a high position that no one is monitoring while he selectively victimizes the women in his court. I’m not afraid to speak up more about him and wish judges could be held responsible for their lack of disregard and commitment to the law.

Mr Katz does not have an oath of office on record with the Secretary of State. He’s not a real judge but an attorney acting as judge. [Redacted by Ed.] . He needs to be investigated. He is a bias [redacted] with no regard for children. His ego is the biggest thing in the courtroom. He ignores the rights of parents and does not apply the actual law and is not concerned about anyone’s rights. He needs to be removed.

Pray you never have to appear before Katz!!! He chooses sides. He stays on his personal computer during trial and does not listen to the side he has not chosen to side with. Imagine your life with your children being less important than his personal computer. Katz allows perjury in his court room. He does not care about the truth.

Judge Katz does not read the motions in front of him, he tries to get the facts from the oral arguments which leads to bad decisions,as many attorneys simply lie.
I have witnessed it on many occassions.
Please get in touch with me if you are interested in getting the facts together and send a letter of complaint to Albany. They investigate judicial misconduct.

Favors Abusive fathers because he is all for fathers rights he doesn’t feel Domestic violence in front of children is Abuse ! I agree with the comments below if you have a female Lawyer he will not let her finish only listens to the male lawyers . I guess all a father has to do is cry alienation and Katz will not put the childrens best interest first he has long as they get to see the father .

Katz does not hold attorneys accountable. He ruled that depositions be prepared by a certain date and a year later the attorneys have not taken any depositions. However Katz accepts frivolous motions prolonging the case and wasting hundreds of thousand of dollars on attorney fees. Meanwhile lives of the innocent are wrecked. The lies that set a case in motion are ignored.

The Honorable Katz interrupts and talks over female attorneys resulting in verbalized case points falling unheard in court. He either doesn’t read the evidence presented or he doesn’t want to be confused with the provable facts. Male attorneys are allowed by Katz to finish their sentences whereas female attorneys rarely are allowed to finish a sentence without his interruption. His court does not consider a child’s well being. His court only recognizes the parent’s wants that he chooses to side with regardless of the provable facts. He can’t be bothered with the evidence and the law. Hearts are broken in his court and children are traumatized by his reckless off the cuff rulings. Defendants represented by a female attorney in his court are disadvantaged and have very little hope of having one’s case truly heard.

Michael L Katz is un unfair judge that destroys people’s lives. He discriminates people that cannot afford expensive attorneys in favour of top NY lawyers. He does not listen and he has an intimidating attitude. He is conceited and mean-spirited and humiliates people with the way he talks to them. People like him should not be in a power position like this.
