Comments:
Judge Larson is what happens when political connections trump common sense and intellect; in short, he is a horrible jurist and let this be a warning to anyone who has the misfortune of appearing before him. He runs the courtroom based on his rules, or what he thinks the rules “should” be, and not under the Texas Rules of Procedure, regularly ignoring motions and filings he simply doesn’t like, doesn’t want to address, or refuses to address because he is inexperienced [he was a railroad-dispute mediator before being appointed]. He routinely ignores issues within cases before him when he disagrees with them and, on numerous occasions, makes his personal opinions and bias a part of his rulings, many of which do not follow standard TX procedure and leave everybody hanging, again because of his inexperience). He is almost universally unable to make a firm decision, even when obvious, and will drag out and prolong a case to avoid going on-the-record. One of his favorite games is to regularly go on and off-the-record to hear from counsels and take “testimony”, issue advisory comments to the litigants, and coerce settlements, then go back on-the-record, state his opinion, and then slam parties for challenging his tactics, or demanding proceedings take place in open court. Judge Larson enjoys playing favorites and engaging in massive ex parte communication with his network of local counsels, “counselors”, and mediators. He takes all criticism deeply personal, almost cult-like, and retaliates against anybody in his courtroom who raises objections. There is no judge more arrogant and vindictive than this guy, belying the Father Know’s Best image he’s concocted for himself.
