I was a juror on a case in which she coddled Keith and Lisa Brown -- yes, the child molester(s)-- and took the case totally out of our hands. She forced us to award money to the defendants, one of which was Lisa's sister, Kim, and the other a guy who was just trying to help out. We would have awarded him hundreds of thousands of dollars on his defamation claim for insane things that Lisa Brown wrote about him to other people. Judge Laycock instead found that these same e-mails could only be interpreted as legal demands. They weren't. You had to see these. This experience poisoned me to the courts system for I am afraid the rest of my life.

She does not control the courtroom and allowed all kinds of antics by a theatrical attorney. She failed to follow through on her own questions that were asked when they were not answered. She admitted she was unprepared. She allowed the attorney to miss filing deadlines time and time again. She did not follow the law. She is sarcastic and self serving in her comments.

Thank God she's retiring at the end of the year. Utah County and the world will become better places.

She does not abide by the US Constitution. She doesn't understand what is ruled by the US Supreme court, and if the answer by the US Supreme court is vague she doesn't use common sense to figure a ruling. She just dismisses it. She allowed a man who was wanted in 2 states for attempted murder and she put him on house arrest with work release. Which later turned out that he didn't comply and yet he has been found to have completed the requirements??? Seriously?! Obviously if two states find this person to be a treat to society how can she not see it too? She is very bias in her decisions, and seriously the state needs to put an investigation on her!!!

Judge Laycock was reported saying that, "If as a woman, I treat women differently who appear in front of me, then I'm a failure as a judge."
(article reported in Deseret News,
Female judges reflect change in attitudes)

Well I have witnessed that she is beyond bias in the court room. In my opinion, she does favor women, which in her very own words equals a failed judge.

One story among many... she ordered a father, (who was cheated on by his wife and thrown out) to pay a settlement of alimony on properties never sold, equaling amounts far beyond reach with devastating results. She also makes remarks to men in court who make a higher living than her.

Come on Utah County, we deserve better Judges with strong character, who can prove worthy of "wisdom for all" persons and who can show remarkable compassion with best results.

Maybe Laycocks time spent serving women in undesirable circumstances has created harsh feelings amongst all men in general.

Wishing betterment and fairness upon people,

-A concerned citizen, who by the way is a female

Judge Claudia Laycock is a good judge. She sometimes makes sarcastic remarks that need not be made. She is a professional and well-read judge with lots of life experience. I think, however, that she doesn't like men, especially young men.

Comments:
Judge Laycock is more interested in playing little power games that feed her ego than she is about justice or public safety. Her behavior in the courtroom is frequently unprofessional and her performance in general is a disgrace to the criminal justice system.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
She knows nothing about civil litigation, but at least she jumps to silly conclusions based on urban legends while ignoring statutes and fundamental legal principles. So she's got that going for her --- which is nice.

Comments:
Judge Laycock makes extrajudicial comments on the bench that do not need to be made. She needs to be more respectful to others and sometimes displays arrogance. She should resist making extra comments that can be hurtful to people. She is smart, but her temperament needs to improve.
