Judge Lund was kind, and sincerely seemed to want to help me as I represented myself in an attempt to get a protective order on behalf of my children. However, she did not seem to be as familiar with the sections of the Utah Code governing protective orders as she should have been. I had to point out a certain section of the code to her, and in the end, she told me that under the code she could not grant the order in my case. My reading of the code is that she very well could have granted the order. Her demeanor was very admirable, however, and she allowed me to speak despite many objections from the opposing attorney. Very likeable--but I think her decision went counter to the code.
