I am news reporter in WA State. My targets are government officials. As such, I file suits for access to public records. In 2020, I asked a King County comment after the court reversed a finding that WA DHHS had jurisdiction over Indian children. From that letter to another Judge,Judge Rogers wrote me an email stating that he felt I was abusive and insulting in September of 2020. But in December 2020, all of Snohomish County Superior Court disqualified themselves from my case, so my case was transferred to King County Superior Court. Judge Rogers self assigned himself to my case after he wrote that I was abusive and insulting.

My office worked on several motions in a case assigned to Judge Rogers. The written orders he issued are completely nonsensical, do not follow the law or the facts, and left my client (as well as the opposing party) in a worse state. He took months and months to render a decision - admittedly civil cases can be complex, but it should not have taken 4-6 months to rule. He seemed to have a bias against my client to the point where I would affidavit him in future cases. I have met Judge Rogers socially and he seems like a very nice person, but as a jurist he is doing a poor job, a disservice to the profession, and I do not believe he should be on the bench at all. Judges who don't know what they don't know need to spend time reading, learning, and talking to people who do. D+.

This judge issued a nonsensical, five page ruling that overturned a well-reasoned, thirty-page legal opinion written by an ALJ in a discrimination case involving the Mercer Island School District. It took him over five months to render this biased, illogical, ruling that overturned the original ALJ's sound ruling (and that, by the way, she took only 90 days to write).
