Comments:
Judge Garret seems fair and reasonable, but when presented with my case displayed gross negligence in using the evidence presented in my custody case. My daughters father was extremely emotionally abusive towards me, and at times physically abusive. When I made the decision to leave, he of course fought me for custody and tried to prevent me from relocating counties for better employment and stability. A GAL was assigned to our case, who left out extremely important imformation including my exes history of abuse towards women, and his history of being severely abused as a child. My exes referenced all lied to the GAL and claiming that no abuse took place during his childhood. When it was revealed that they lied, Judge Garret didn't even bat an eye and followed the GAL's recommendation to award primary residential custody of my then 3 year old daughter to her abusive father. Even after hearing testimony from our therapist that we saw jointly, that he has in fact abusive and that she recommended our daughter reside primarily with me. The judge heard all of this, expressed her concerns over the behavior of my ex, including prolific porn watching, abuse of marijuana, and issues with anger but then turned around and granted him primary residential custody. Judge Garret in my opinion either needs major training in issues of domestic abuse, or needs to not preside over any family law issues.
