If I could give a rating of zero I would. Judge Edwards is terrible and needs to resign or be removed as a judge. My daughter was raped last year and judge Edwards issues a ruling of guilty of 2nd degree rape to the defendant in January of 2020. He was VERY adamant about his verdict and even got the defense attorney to agree that rape had occurred based on my daughter's testimony. The other day, Feb 13th, he called a hearing and DROPPED ALL CHARGES on the defendant and set him free. He said that he didn't feel that forcible compulsion occurred and that it was just rough sex. The rapist is now free and my family is left in shambles with no REAL reason as to why he changed his verdict. There was no new evidence, testimony, or even an appeal. I have no idea what to do now and my faith in the justice system is tarnished.

Judge Edwards is temperamental, set in his ways, and unwilling to listen to alternative points of view. he also takes certain types of litigation personally, including motions for revision from erroneous commissioner's rulings. There is a general procedural sloppiness in the handling and general administration of the courts in Grays Harbor and much of that can be attributed to Judge Edwards unwillingness as the presiding judge to address the systemic problems within a number of the Court's practices which can be erratic and unpredictable in ways that often lead to unjust outcomes. He is also often capricious in his rulings and resists requests for written findings preferring to rely on counsel to draft even complex orders for him.

Out of County attorneys should be prepared to be hometowned if they are opposed by a member of the local bar who appears in front of judge edwards regularly.

He also responds negatively to oral motions and has a reputation for treating women who do not meet his standards of feminine propriety harshly. By contrast, he can occasionally be quite protective of female litigants who do fit his personal expectations for female decorum, whatever those might be.

Besides Godfrey, Edwards is the worst judge I have ever had the unfortunate experience to be before. He is completely prejudicial and has his own agenda. He needs to be removed from the bench.

This judge holds court between large painted murals of angels chastising sinners and rewarding the devout. Apparently he believes that he is the hand of God on earth. He would have been right at home presiding over the witchcraft trials in Salem, but he probably would have issued stiffer sentences than Judge Hathorne. Wear a brown shirt and practice the Hitlergruß, and you'll make out all right in his court.
