Judge Dsrvas was very receptive to both sides of my dependency hearing. She was able to read, articulate, and rule on a very emotional topic in rather short amount of available time. She appeared to be very sympathetic to the idea of faimilies being divided, but she also seemed perfectly willing and able to err on the side of caution when ruling. At no point in my hearing did I lose faith in our justice system due to the level heaved and professional judge that won election to her position.

I have had limited exposure to this judge, but in the one situation where I was before her in Ex Parte, I was completely impressed at how she absorbed the information presented to her with only a few minutes to read, and her even temperment and ability to recognize the issues and make a ruling. She knew exactly where both attorneys were trying to go with their cases, and was able to make an excellent ruling with minimal preparation time. She was not flustered at the short timeframe, and had such an immediate grasp of the issues that even if I hadn't gotten what I considered a good ruling, I felt that she was making an informed judgment of the limited facts before her. Just her overall demeamor and how she ruled told me that I'd enjoy being in a trial before her, because she would hold both sides to a high standard, and she would accurately asses the situation and make a well reasoned ruling.

As an observer in her courtroom I witnessed the dismissal of a case based on her personal analysis agreeing with the twisted opinion of a King County Prosecutor that turned the intent of the case into an interpretation based on "legal" nomenclature that wasn't allowed to be challenged prior to or at the hearing without ever allowing the attorney representing the plaintiff to say one single word. This decision cost the plaintiff over $35,000 in legal fees. And this judge is a Member of Education Committee and Equality and Fairness Committee, Superior Court Judges Association?

First time in front of her. Knowledgeable but has a hard time with the interstices of the law; in that sense very conservative. One could do among the 52 jurists a lot worse than Judge Darvas.
