This judge allowed a woman who blew .223 upon being arrested by the Washington State Patrol for felony vehicular hit and run on a bicyclist to walk free the next day without paying one dime in bail. This DUI driver left said bicyclist unconcious in a ditch in their own blood and urine after hitting them at 50 plus miles an hour. Sounds about time for a new judge in town.

I have no way to formulate an opinion on Mr. Harper, but would not vote for him, based on the fact that he offered no qualification on his candidacy for judge. When and where did he get his degrees, JD. etc. No picture, how long a judge. Nothing but a blank page. You want my vote, tell why I should vote for you. Tell me how you are qualified.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
Some say Keith is a nice guy but to say he has extensive litigation experience in a wide variety of areas is grossly over reaching. Keith's experience as a prosecutor is limited to shoplifting, DUIs and minor assaults - the stuff entry level prosecutors train on. The local cops weren't happy with him because he couldn't make a decision and provided them no meaningful training or leadership. No one locally can recall if Keith has ever tried a case to a jury in superior court.

If you need a will or a contract done, go to Keith. If complex litigation is at hand Keith is completely out of his league. At least Bierbaum and Haas are able trial attorneys and are more than capable of handling complex cases. Haas also has a ton of criminal experience as a prosecutor and defense attorney. I"m not so sure of Ms. Bierbaum's criminal law experience.

This is a non-partisan race but Keith is, historically, a republican and that tends to be reflected in his rulings.

In short, is Keith a nice guy, honest, part of the establishment, able to handle relatively simple matters -yes. Is he qualified to sit as Jefferson County's only Superior Court Judge? Not even remotely. Vote for Bierbaum or Haas, at least their experience as trial attorneys is relevant to the position of a trial judge.
